KEN BETTENCOURT'S FORD SHOEBOX "VIVIAN"
Ken came to us with a deeply meaningful project: restoring the paint on his 1950 Ford Shoebox, a car named after his late wife. He wanted the restoration to preserve the soft, feminine character the car already carried, so we designed a paint concept that honored her style while giving the Shoebox a fresh, timeless look.
The hood was sent to louver punching specialists Old Anvil Speed Shop in Anaheim, California to help reduce engine temperatures during summer driving - and the louvers added a perfect vintage touch to the overall aesthetic.
Back in the shop, we refinished the entire car in a dusty pearl rose, then used real lace to mask the roof and inlay sections, creating a true 3‑dimensional lace effect in the paint. Finally, we added hand‑laid pinstriping to tie the whole design together, giving Ken a restoration that’s not only beautiful, but deeply personal and meaningful.
